When Snapchat redesign was announced at the end of November last year, Snapchat’s biggest fans got excited. The new design promised better friends experience meaning that you would not miss one snap from your friends while placing brands, creators, and news in a completely separate part of the app. Many people, however, got skeptical and speculated that Snapchat redesign is the response to the company’s failing growth and engagement numbers. Now that the new layout started rolling out in the U.K., Australia, and Canada, we’re looking at the first feedback and opinions about the Snapchat redesign.

Snapchat redesign’s biggest confusion
One of the biggest disappointments in the Snapchat redesign is that Stories migrated to the chat screen. Snapchat also seems to have copied Instagram Stories placement on the top of the screen showing a story’s preview in the little circle when there’s a new story and snowing a Bitmoji if there’s no new story. While the users are complaining to Snapchat on Twitter, the company responds to the requests by educating the users about the new features:

According to TechCrunch, “83 percent of App Store reviews (1,941) for the update are negative with one or two stars, according to data provided to TechCrunch by mobile analytics firm Sensor Tower. Just 17 percent, or 391 of the reviews, give it three to five stars.”
Will the users warm up to the Snapchat redesign? Only time will tell! One might remember how Facebook’s News Feed redesign in 2006 caused quite a stir and now, whether you like Facebook or not, it has over 2 billion monthly active users!
