Jun 20 Snapchat is bringing the summer of music to Santa Monica with Twilight Concerts

LA’s famous summer outdoor concert series, the 33rd annual Twilight Concerts at the Pier, returns this Thursday, June 22, presented by Snapchat! From June 22 to August 17 (skipping July 6) concert goers will be able to enjoy the best contemporary and classic music and stunning sunsets from Santa Monica Pier. The line-up includes a Neo Soul/R&B singers Khalid and Bibi Bourelly, Indie Pop artists LeMaitre and Coast Modern, Reggae singers Marcia Griffiths and Jah9 and many other exciting acts.

No tickets are necessary to attend Snapchat Twilight Concerts. There's no allocated seating either so concert goes are encouraged to bring your own chairs, blankets, and any other items they might need. In addition to the main stage with music acts, there is a Concert Garden (for those who are21-and-over) offering drinks from Boulevard and Duvel beers, Deep Eddy Vodka, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages.

In addition to Snapchat which is the main sponsor of the summer concert series, LA Weekly, Boxed Water, Clif bars and many other companies partnered with the event.

Earlier this year, Santa Monica Arts Commissioner Phil Brock called for an end to the Twilight Concerts in a piece in the Santa Monica Mirror, calling them “a security burden to our city.” Executive director of Santa Monica Pier Corporation Jay Ferrand responded in a comment for Santa Monica Next saying: “Every year we work with the city to smooth out logistics and keep costs under control. We are in the midst of the same discussions this year,” so there were no plans to cancel the events.
